A silkscreen poster from 1938 announces a regional show of work by artists from New York State and New Jersey, held in mid-August and into September. The Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project produced many posters like it, using the inexpensive silkscreen process to advertise exhibitions, concerts, and public events during the Depression. Posters of this kind gave local artists a public showcase and brought affordable graphic art into neighborhoods that rarely saw museum work. The record also names Maurice Glickman, a sculptor, and a date stamp on the back of the board, both useful clues to the poster's origins.
