The poster announces the sixth provincial conference of the Communist Party, held February 18 through 20, 1938, at the Conservatorio de Música in Barcelona, which sets this sheet apart from the many war posters that simply urge resistance. The gathering took place in a hard winter for the Republic, in the months after the fighting at Teruel, when Barcelona was crowded with soldiers, refugees and political organizers.
