Few interiors in Yellowstone are as striking as the great stone chimney and fireplaces inside Old Faithful Inn, which this stereo card shows in the building's soaring central space. The inn opened in 1904, the same year this card was published, and its design of heavy logs and local stone was meant to suit the park's wild setting. The H.C. White Company of North Bennington, Vermont, produced many stereo views of western scenery, and its cards were sold for home use, where viewers looked through a stereoscope to see the two slightly offset images merge into a single scene with depth.
