The rear hall and corridor shown here belong to the Old Faithful Inn, which stands beside the geyser of the same name in Yellowstone. The inn opened in 1904 and was designed by Robert Reamer, who built its interiors from lodgepole pine and other local logs and stone. Its open, rustic style, with a towering central chimney and exposed timber, made it one of the best-known examples of national park architecture of its era. The Detroit Publishing Company, which sold views of American scenery and resorts to travelers, issued many pictures like this one around 1905.
