This view from Goat Island, the wooded island in the Niagara River that splits the American Falls from the Horseshoe Falls, shows the bridges that carried visitors out to its overlooks. It is a 5 x 7 inch glass dry plate negative from the Detroit Publishing Company, a firm that photographed American scenery and resorts for travelers around 1900. The catalog dates it only to between 1890 and 1910. The negative came to the Library of Congress by way of the State Historical Society of Colorado, which gave it in 1949.
