Listed as a pitcher, Wallace "Toots" Shultz is shown in a glass negative dated to about 1912, when he played for Philadelphia's National League club. The image comes from the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news and sports photographs to newspapers in the early 1900s. Its date and identification were later confirmed by baseball researchers at the Society for American Baseball Research, and the plate is now part of the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress.
