The town hall in Breslau, the Silesian city now called Wrocław in Poland, is the focus here, with a monument standing in front of its façade. The building grew over several centuries, combining Gothic foundations with later Renaissance ornament, and it anchored the market square where merchants, officials and townspeople gathered. This view was made by the photochrom process, a Swiss method that printed a photograph through a series of lithographic stones to add color, and the Detroit Publishing Company distributed such views in the United States.
