Crowds fill the stands at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn for a World Series game on October 6, 1920, placing the scene in the home park of the Brooklyn Robins. That fall the Robins faced the Cleveland Indians in a series that drew intense interest across New York. George Grantham Bain, a news photographer, recorded many events like this one, and his pictures show the spectators as much as the game. Look at the packed rows and the hats and clothing of the fans for a sense of how baseball drew people from every part of the city.
