Night baseball at Ebbets Field is what sets this print apart from the ballpark views on the board. Ebbets Field, home of the Brooklyn Dodgers in Flatbush, installed its lights in 1938, and the Dodgers played their first night game there that June against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Night ball was still a novelty in the 1940s, so a photograph of the grandstands lit for a game against the Cincinnati Reds captures a moment when the sport was adjusting to electric light. The record dates the print to the 1940s, a period when Brooklyn crowds filled the park for the Dodgers.
