Floodlights hanging over the grandstands at Ebbets Field, with the Brooklyn Dodgers hosting the Cincinnati Reds, mark this as a night game in the 1940s. The Dodgers and Reds had played the first night game at the Flatbush ballpark in 1938, and by the mid-1940s evening baseball had become a regular part of the schedule, drawing working fans after their shifts.
