Betty Hutton, the high-energy singer and comedian Paramount promoted heavily in the mid-1940s, is the figure this poster puts front and center, as the record's subject heading indicates. The film *The Stork Club* (1945) takes its name from the Manhattan nightclub on East 53rd Street, a social landmark known for its celebrity clientele and run by Sherman Billingsley. Paramount's studio copyright on the sheet places it among the publicity art the studio produced to sell the picture to exhibitors and moviegoers. Color posters of this kind were printed in large runs and display the star billing and bold lettering typical of wartime and postwar film advertising.
