This picture reproduces an engraving of a tractor, and its caption card credits the Case collection, which points to the J.I. Case Company of Racine, Wisconsin. Case built steam traction engines in the late nineteenth century and began producing gasoline tractors in the early twentieth, so an image like this would have belonged to that transition in farm power. The title gives 1906, but the card records no verified date, so that year should be treated as unconfirmed. The subject tags, steam engines and farm machinery, fit the company's early line of equipment.
