Mulford & Petry Co. was an advertising agency in Detroit, and this 8 x 10 inch glass negative records its offices sometime between 1900 and 1910. Agencies of that kind were still a fairly new type of business then, buying space in newspapers and magazines for clients and writing their advertisements, so the interior shows a trade that was just taking shape. The Detroit Publishing Company made the picture as part of its broad record of the city and the wider country. The large plate captures the room with considerable detail.
