This drawing is set at a drawbridge in Tokyo, a subject the catalog ties to foreign visitors, which points to a scene from the decades after Japan opened its ports to Western trade in the 1850s. The record's dates don't line up, though. It lists 1750, while the artist, Isoda Koryūsai, is recorded as working between 1764 and 1788, and the subject headings describe 1850 to 1900. Koryūsai was a Edo-based printmaker known for elegant figure studies and landscapes, so the mismatch is worth noting for anyone using this sheet as a dated source.
