This drawing is catalogued under a subject that sets it apart from the usual Japanese print: a drawbridge in Tokyo, with foreign visitors among the figures noted in the record. The catalog dates don't agree with one another. The date given is 1750, the artist is listed as active from 1764 to 1788, and the subject range is 1850 to 1900. Tokyo was called Edo until 1868, so the later subject dates likely reflect the Meiji period, when Western travelers and residents became a more common sight in the capital. Isoda Koryūsai was an Edo-based ukiyo-e artist known for his prints of women and city life, so the attribution is plausible. The drawing's exact date and subject are worth checking against the Library of Congress record.
