Trinity Church, with its tall spire at the head of Wall Street, anchors this 1900s view of the financial district. Richard Upjohn's Gothic Revival building dates to the 1840s, and by the time this card was made it stood in sharp contrast to the office towers rising around it. The card was published by the Standard Scenic Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, around 1906, one of many commercial stereographs sold for viewing through a stereoscope. Its shadowed street and crowded skyline record how the old church and the new business district shared the same few blocks.
