Few souvenirs of the 1913 suffrage march are as direct as this printed program, which lays out the order of the procession that filled Pennsylvania Avenue on March 3, 1913, the day before Woodrow Wilson's inauguration. Alice Paul's Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage organized the parade, which drew several thousand marchers and was marred by hostile crowds that forced police and, eventually, Army cavalry to intervene. Programs like this one document how the demonstration was staged, down to its divisions and participants, in the shadow of the Capitol.
