Unlike the other facades on this board, this one is a design for a banking house and office, printed as plate 67 in an 1865 catalog of the Architectural Iron Works of New York. The firm sold cast-iron fronts that could be ordered from a catalog, cast in sections, and bolted together on site, which let a building have a tall, classical-looking facade at a fraction of the cost of carved stone. The color lithograph was made by Sarony, Major & Knapp, a New York lithography firm, so the drawing doubled as a sales piece. Its slender columns and large window openings show how iron let commercial architecture admit more light than masonry walls could.
