The Dodge Hotel stood at the corner of North Capitol and E Streets, N.W., a location that placed it near the northern approach to the Capitol. The photograph is by Theodore Horydczak, a Washington photographer who spent several decades recording the city's buildings and streets, mainly from the 1920s into the 1950s. The caption card gives no date, so the picture is best read as a view of this corner and its hotel trade during that period, when modest lodgings like this one served rail travelers and visitors on government business. It shows how such hotels fit into the everyday street life of the capital.
