Shown in the uniform of the Brooklyn Feds, this head-and-shoulders portrait of James "Jim" Bluejacket, a ballplayer, turns his face to the right, away from the camera. The Brooklyn Feds were a club in the Federal League, an upstart major league that challenged the established National and American Leagues from 1914 to 1915. The photograph is from the George Grantham Bain Collection, the work of a New York news photographer whose pictures document the city's events and personalities in the early twentieth century.
