A stone arch bridge in South Hadley, Massachusetts, a river town in the Connecticut River valley, is the subject of this 8 by 10 inch glass negative. The Detroit Publishing Company, which produced views of towns, rivers, and rural scenes across the United States in the early twentieth century, made it sometime between 1900 and 1910. Its catalog number, 034853, places it among the company's large-format views of the period. The negative reached the Library of Congress as a gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado in 1949.
