Few WPA posters promote a village by its cliffs, but this one invites fairgoers to reach Sea Cliff on Long Island's North Shore, a bluff-top community 250 feet above the water, by land or by sea. Printed as a silkscreen in 1938 and sponsored by the village itself, it also credits the Federal theater Project, a reminder that WPA artists produced civic promotion as well as cultural work. A February 1939 date stamp on the back shows it was circulating just as the New York World's Fair was getting ready to open.
