Franklin's likeness here comes from a 1787 painting by Charles Willson Peale, made when the 81-year-old statesman was in Philadelphia, where the Constitutional Convention was meeting that year. The caption card gives 1787 as the date, but lithography was not invented until 1796, so this printed version was almost certainly made years after the painting and reproduces its image. Franklin died in 1790, and Peale's portrait remains one of the most widely copied images of him.
