The glass negative is labeled "Wm. Miller Collins" and dated July 8, 1921, though the record notes that the title came from data written by the National Photo Company and has not been verified, so the name and date are best treated as the studio's own notes. The National Photo Company was a Washington, D.C. commercial studio that photographed local residents, buildings and events during the 1910s and 1920s, and its negatives were later given to the Library of Congress. Herbert A. French donated this one in 1947. Because it is glass, it shows streaks and blemishes from the breakdown of its original coating, which are visible wear rather than flaws in the image itself.
