The only name attached to this negative is C.W. Collins, a title the National Photo Company recorded on the glass or its sleeve, and the Library of Congress notes that it has not been verified. The plate is dated to about 1921, which places it among the Washington, D.C. firm's work from the early twentieth century, when the company made large numbers of portraits and commercial images on glass. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the library in 1947. Look closely and you may see streaks and blemishes, the result of the original coatings breaking down over the decades.
