The Hotel Astor, on Broadway at 44th Street in the heart of Times Square, is the subject of this view. The record suggests it may date to the Hudson-Fulton celebration of 1909, when New York hung bunting and banners to mark the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage and the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton's steamboat. The Detroit Publishing Company made this large glass negative, and its plates preserve the street decorations of the period in fine detail.
