Cody, better known as Buffalo Bill, in its title alongside the author Prentiss Ingrahm, who wrote the serial *The League of Three or Buffalo Bill's Pledge* for *Beadle's Weekly*. The sheet was issued by the New York firm Orr (N.) Co., with a date given as the 1880s. Publishers like Beadle used posters like this to sell cheap weekly installments to working readers, and they show how a real frontiersman was turned into a fictional hero. The date and the initials W.E.B. on the sheet are unverified in the record.
