A trade-paper advertisement for the 1917 film *Adventures of Buffalo Bill* sets this halftone apart, since its main element is a head-and-shoulders portrait of William F. Cody himself rather than a scene from the picture. The ad ran in *Motion Picture News* on February 10, 1917, only weeks after Cody died in Denver in January of that year. Its use of his likeness shows how the frontier showman's name still drew audiences as he moved from the arena and Wild West tours into the new medium of film.
