This poster advertises the show's "Congress of Rough Riders of the World," a billing that promised horsemen from many countries and cultures performing side by side in one arena. Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West toured the United States and Europe for decades, and posters like this one were its main advertising, meant to draw crowds to tent grounds in each town. The lithograph was printed by the Courier Lithograph Company of Buffalo, New York, a firm known for producing color posters for circuses and theatrical companies. Its bold colors and crowded action were designed to be read quickly from a street wall.
