Boulders frame the water in this view from the shore at Zephyr Cove, on the eastern side of Lake Tahoe. The print is one half of a stereograph, meant to be viewed alongside its companion image through a stereoscope, and the Library holds only this half. It was issued as number 671 in the *Gems of California Scenery* series and dated to 1866, when stereographs of the West were popular parlor entertainment. The caption card that supplies these details has not been independently verified.
