A rigger perched on the steel headtower of a cableway, shown while the structure was still going up, sets this print apart from other views of the dam site. Cableways like this one carried concrete buckets and materials across the canyon of the Colorado River, and their towers rose on the canyon rims as Boulder Dam took shape in 1934. The photograph comes from a portfolio prepared for Interior Secretary Harold L. Ickes, whose department oversaw the project. It was later reproduced in *Eyes of the Nation*, a visual history of the United States.
