Washington Street was one of the main commercial thoroughfares of downtown Boston, and this color lithograph shows it as a busy mix of storefronts and horse-drawn carriages. The print is credited to G. Klucken, whose "Del." notation marks him as the draftsman who drew the design for reproduction. Street views like this were popular in the 1870s, when color lithography made it possible to sell detailed city scenes to a broad public.
