The Paul Revere House on North Street is the oldest surviving building in downtown Boston, a timber-framed home that dates to about 1680 and stood in the North End when the city was still a crowded port. Revere, the silversmith and patriot famous for his ride in April 1775, lived here for years, and the house has since been restored as a museum within Boston National Historical Park. Notice how the modest, steep-roofed structure stands out against the taller brick buildings around it, a reminder of how much the neighborhood has changed over three centuries.
