Among the WPA prints in this collection, this one makes the home front itself the subject, asking Americans to censor their own talk about the war. Produced under the Federal Art Project in 1941, it reflects a broader wartime message that casual remarks could reach enemy ears. The Office of Censorship, created by executive order in December 1941 after the United States entered the war, formalized controls on press and mail, but posters like this one show that self-censorship was already part of public life. The stamp on the front, dated January 21, 1943, is a reminder that such prints kept circulating well after their first appearance.
