A cattle comedy gets a lunch-counter pitch on this 1936 poster, which offers a "delicious Texas steer sandwich" before naming the show, *A Texas Steer*. It was issued by the Federal theater Project, a New Deal arts program under the Works Progress Administration that commissioned posters for plays staged across the country, including in California. The silkscreen color process allowed bold, flat areas of ink, a method the WPA poster unit used widely to keep printing costs low. Because its steer is beef stock rather than dairy, it sits a little apart from the cows around it on this board.
