Log rafts drifting down the Sagami River, with herons standing nearby, set this sheet apart from the other views in Hiroshige's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, where it is plate 18. The rafts were a working part of river life: timber cut in the hills was floated downstream toward the coast, so the scene shows commerce as well as landscape. Mount Fuji rises in the distance, as it does in most of the series. The print was cut and printed in woodblock color, and the engraver, Matsushima Seikichi, is credited on the sheet.
