La Goulue and her sister are the subjects of this 1892 color lithograph by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who drew many scenes from the Moulin Rouge, the Montmartre dance hall where La Goulue was a well-known cancan dancer. Lautrec's sharp eye for gesture and crowds made his nightlife subjects stand out, and his color lithographs helped carry the look of Paris entertainment to a wide audience. This impression was printed by Edw. Ancourt & Cie in Paris and is numbered 13 of 100.
