Titled *Up and down*, this 1971 print combines two intaglio techniques, mezzotint and drypoint, on a single plate. Mezzotint begins by roughening the whole copper surface with a rocker, then scraping and burnishing areas back toward white, which produces the soft, velvety tonal range the method is known for. The drypoint lines add crisper, burred marks over that ground. Jiri Anderle signed and dated this impression in pencil, and the Library's record gives an edition number that it flags as unverified. The print came to the collection through the Pennell Fund, which supports the Library's print acquisitions.
