Under four flags" is the third official United States war picture in its series, a 1918 color lithograph that presents the Allied coalition as a unified front. It was issued by the Division of Films of the Committee on Public Information, the wartime agency George Creel chaired to explain the American cause, and it was distributed by the World Film Corporation. Its French caption, "Unis pour la paix avec la victoire," roughly means united for peace with victory. The photographs behind the design were taken by the official photographers of the Allied armies, and the record's subject headings point to soldiers, bayonets and the communications side of the war effort.
