Few wartime posters name a single disease as bluntly as this one, which asks Americans to save the Serbians from cholera. Drawn by Boardman Robinson, a painter and cartoonist known for his political work, it was issued by the Franco-Serbian Field Hospital of America, whose New York office at 17 West 30th Street is printed on the poster. By 1918, Serbia had been devastated by years of invasion and fighting, and epidemics of typhus and cholera spread through a population already weakened by the Serbian army's retreat through the winter of 1915 and 1916.
