The title is a pun: "Don't save his face" plays on the idiom about preserving dignity, and the poster urges Americans to hit the enemy hard instead of sparing him. Packer's cartoon was published around 1942, the year after Pearl Harbor, when the United States was converting factories to war output and posters like this one pressed workers to speed up production. Its subject pairs the industrial effort at home with a Japanese military figure as the adversary, a common wartime framing. The Victory Builders label shows it came from a commercial cartoon syndicate that supplied editorial art to newspapers and industry, so it was likely meant to be reprinted and posted widely.
