Fatima Lear is the name attached to this view of the White House, dated July 25, 1921. The National Photo Company recorded that label on its negatives or sleeves, and the record marks it as unverified, so it is best read as a working identification. The date falls in the early Harding administration, when Washington photographers regularly made portraits of visitors at the executive mansion. The 4 by 5 inch glass negative shows streaks and blemishes from the natural breakdown of its original coating.
