This color halftone is the cover of a 1928 *Honor Bilt Modern Homes* booklet from Sears, Roebuck and Company, and it shows The Lexington, one of the house designs offered in that line. Sears sold kit houses by mail from the early 1900s, shipping precut lumber and fittings with instructions so buyers could assemble them. Honor Bilt was the company's higher-grade line in the late 1920s, and its catalog covers used rich color illustrations to make the houses look attractive to prospective buyers. The cover shows how mail-order companies marketed suburban domestic life to the middle-class families of the decade.
