The title *Camera men* suggests a group of photographers at work in 1920, though the National Photo Company's own label on the negative is unverified, so the people and occasion remain uncertain. The image survives as a glass negative, a format widely used for press and studio photography in the early twentieth century before flexible film took over. Streaks and blemishes from deterioration of the original coating are visible, which affects how the picture reads today. Herbert A. French gave the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947.
