Palms frame the waterfront of the Halifax River Yacht Club in Daytona Beach, Florida, in this glass negative made between 1900 and 1910. The Detroit Publishing Company, which sold views of American towns and resorts as postcards and travel prints, recorded many scenes along Florida's east coast, where hotels and clubs drew winter visitors. A marking on the plate suggests it may have been one section of a panoramic set, so the clubhouse is best seen as part of a wider record of the river front. The 5 by 7 inch dry plate was a common format of the period.
