Written entirely in Welsh, this poster speaks directly to unmarried men of Wales in their own language. Its headline, "Gymry sengl!" ("Single Welshmen!"), urges them to enlist before St. David's Day, Wales's national day on March 1, and warns that by March 2 it will be too late. Published in London by the Parliamentary and Joint Labor Recruiting Committees around 1915, it reflects the wartime effort to fill the ranks before conscription began in Britain in 1916. The design is text only, so its pull rests on the wording and on appeals to national identity and timing.
