Albert "Red" Nelson appears here alone, identified in the original caption only as "Nelson, Phils," which places him with the Philadelphia National League club. The team was playing at Baker Bowl, its home ballpark since 1895. The glass negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, made by a New York news photography service that supplied pictures of sports and current events to newspapers. The 1913 date was assigned later by the Society for American Baseball Research, because the original card did not give one.
