Munden, today called Hann. Münden, sits where the Werra and Fulda rivers meet to form the Weser, a setting that gives this view its character. The town lay in the Prussian province of Hanover when this view was made, probably in the 1890s. Its color comes from the photochrom process, a costly method that the Swiss firm Photochrom developed and that used several hand-registered lithographic stones, one for each color. Detroit Publishing Company later sold these prints in America, and this one is listed in its 1905 catalog.
