The Tachikawa Aircraft Company works in Tachikawa, a city on the western edge of Tokyo, appear here from directly overhead. The print comes from an album titled *Precision targets*, a compilation of aerial photographs that American planners used to select and study bombing targets in 1945. Tachikawa was home to Japanese Army aircraft production and a nearby air base, which made the plant a strategic objective late in the war. The layout of buildings, roads, and open ground shows how such images were read for target selection.
