This aerial view shows a bomber releasing its load over the Musashino plant of the Nakajima Aircraft Company, which lay in the western suburbs of Tokyo. Nakajima was among Japan's largest makers of aircraft engines, so factories like this one were central targets of the United States' air campaign in 1945. The photograph comes from an album titled *Precision targets*, a collection of images that military analysts used to study bombing accuracy and the layout of industrial sites. Its value lies in showing how the attack was seen from above, with the target, the bomb run and the surrounding ground all visible at once.
